Black woman sits in a class along with racist chanting the “N” word 4/26/2019 (LONDON)

A black cleaner had to take time off work with stress after taking part in a diversity training course where the N-word was repeatedly shouted out.

Theresa Georges was racially harassed by the episode, an employment tribunal has ruled.

She had been working at a housing association in South Wales for two months when she was told to attend the course.

Trainer Lisa Hearn wrote the racist words ‘n*****’ and ‘P***’ on a flipchart. She then asked all 16 of those taking part, of whom Miss Georges was the only black person, to shout out derogatory words that came to mind.

As Miss Hearn went around the room she noted down the words chosen from the board and put ticks next to any that were uttered more than once, the Cardiff hearing was told.

The housing association argued that the exercise was intended to highlight that these words ‘were not to be used under any circumstances’.

But employment judge Alison Frazer said: ‘The word n***** was shouted out three times … the claimant was the only black person in the room and as such, she felt under pressure to say the “N” word but instead offered the word “cabbage”.’

Miss Georges was uncomfortable using this term, which is offensive to those with mental disabilities.

The judge, sitting with two colleagues, unanimously upheld the cleaner’s claim against her employer for racial harassment under the Equality Act.

In a written ruling, Judge Frazer said: ‘We accept that the use of the full “N-word” by the trainer and by the three others in the course had the effect of creating a degrading and offensive environment for the claimant and of violating her dignity.

‘The “N-word” is by its very nature a deeply loaded word with distressing racial connotations which, we find, would necessarily have caused the claimant to feel deeply offended and uncomfortable.’ After the hearing, Miss Georges said: ‘It was awful, I couldn’t believe what was happening. The whole scenario was offensive, pointless and crude.

‘There was no meaning to it, I don’t know what the trainer was trying to achieve.’

Miss Georges, who has remained out of work since, added: ‘I’ve done lots of diversity training in the past and never been subjected to an exercise like that.’

The cleaner was employed by the Pobl Group Ltd from January 4 to March 23 last year at its Clarence Place hostel in Newport. As part of her induction training she attended the diversity course at its main premises nearby on March 8.

The judge said the underlying purpose was entirely appropriate, but the chosen method of delivery was ‘a risky strategy’.

After the course Miss Georges felt in a state of shock. She was signed off work with stress after seeing her GP.

The following Monday she called her line manager Kirsty Thomas and said she was unable to come in because of the the effect of the training.

A week later, she wrote a letter of complaint to the company’s human resources team. This was later rejected. Miss Georges wrote: ‘She seemed to fixate on the N and P-words.

‘As we were going round the room I heard the N-word shouted out three times. I cannot express how uncomfortable I was feeling. It was as if I felt that everyone was waiting for me to say the N-word.’

The tribunal judges ruled that the delegates had no choice but to attend the training, adding: ‘We find that [the] encouragement to say words that were deeply offensive was a crude and unnecessary way of delivering the training.’

Pobl Group said it recognised that the exercise ‘was inappropriate’. It apologised to Miss Georges and said it had made changes. The amount of compensation has yet to be set.

Obama is the Worst President Since World War II, Poll Says 4/26/2019

More Americans consider Barack Obama to be the worst President since World War II than they do any other president, according to a new poll.

The Quinnipiac poll out Wednesday found that 33% of Americans see Obama as the worst post-war president, while just 8% consider him the best. Another 28% see former President George W. Bush as the worst. Richard Nixon, the only American President ever to resign in disgrace, was picked the worst by 13%, according to the poll.

Ronald Reagan was the most common answer among those surveyed for the best President since World War II, with 35% choosing the Republican icon. Another 18% chose Bill Clinton, and 15% chose John F. Kennedy.

And 45% of Americans think the U.S. would be better off if Mitt Romney had been elected President in 2012, according to the poll, while 38% think the country would be worse off.

The survey of 1,446 registered voters, conducted June 24-30, had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.

What in the heck is going on in Baltimore!!! a black Mayor forced to resign because of a black children’s book she wrote 4/26/2019

Catherine Pugh published the first book in her popular “Healthy Holly” literary series nearly 15 years ago. But on Thursday morning the FBI raided her home and several other properties linked to the Baltimore mayor and potentially related to the book series that promoted the health of Black children.

It was the latest twist to a scandal in a city which has already long struggled with police leadership stability amid a steadily high crime rate.

One day earlier, acting Mayor Jack Young fired three of Pugh’s staffers.S

With Mayor Catherine Pugh‘s health issues forcing her to take a leave of absence, the Baltimore City Council sent a letter calling for her resignation.

“The entire membership of the Baltimore City Council believes that it is not in the best interest of the City of Baltimore for you to continue to serve as Mayor. We urge you to tender your resignation, effective immediately,” stated the letter signed by all 14 council members except acting Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young.

The letter came one day after a spokesperson for Pugh insisted she would return to City Hall.

Pugh, who has clashed in the past with the City Council on policy issues, has been at the center of a political storm while she’s on medical leave battling pneumonia. She’s engulfed in a scandal and investigation over sales of her children’s books, which promote healthy living for Black kids, to entities that do business with the city. Critics have called the financial deals a possible conflict of interest, but Pugh said it was a “regrettable mistake.”

The 69-year-old was sworn into office in 2016 as Baltimore’s third Black woman mayor. The Philadelphia native who came to Baltimore as a Morgan State University student said she planned to focus her attention on community development, job creation and crime reduction.

From the beginning of her tenure, Pugh and City Councilmembers had a difficult relationship, Roger Hartley, dean of the public affairs school at the University of Baltimore, told the Los Angeles Times.

Many of the council members wanted to see more progressive policies from Pugh, such as raising the minimum wage, spending on after-school programs and sentencing reform for gun possession offenders.

“It’s not the same old Baltimore politics,” Hartley said in 2017. “She’s going to have to bend to the interests of these council members and vice versa. I think we’re seeing the kind of political change that people voted for.”

At the same time, it has been an uphill battle for Pugh to reduce crime in Baltimore, which has been dubbed America’s most dangerous big city. In January, Pugh tapped New Orleans’ police chief Michael Harrison as the city’s fifth police chief in four years.

City Councilman Brandon Scott released a statement Monday, saying in part that, “Baltimore deserves a Mayor who can focus on reducing crime, improving our schools and restoring trust in our government.”

The acting mayor could end up being Pugh’s successor. Young has insisted that he’s only temporarily filling in for Pugh, but he’s well-liked by fellow council members.

Young, 64, was first elected to the City Council in 1996. He was unanimously voted city council president to fill the remaining term of former City Council President Stephanie Rawlings-Blake in 2010 when she took over as mayor after Sheila Dixonresigned following a scandal.

They are letting all the boys out of jail that Amber Guyger arrested in the past 4/25/2019

At least nine people who were arrested by a Dallas police officer who was eventually accused of murdering a man in his own home have had their cases dismissed, according to a new report. The development could be damning for Amber Guyger, the now-former cop who was indicted for breaking into the home of Botham Shem Jean before shooting him to death.

All of the dismissed cases originated before Guyger killed Botham Jean, a 26-year-old native of St. Lucia who was simply home watching TV when the off-duty officer illegally entered and killed him under the implausible excuse that she thought he was burglarizing her own apartment. Citing court documents, the Dallas News reported that “Dallas County prosecutors in one case wrote that they were seeking the dismissal because the fired officer was ‘indicted for murdering an innocent man in his own home.’”

If prosecutors were going so far as to dismiss cases that Guyger brought in, that could indicate how strongly they feel their case against the former cop is. The implication was that prosecutors were so confident they can secure Guyger’s conviction that they were already getting ahead of any potential wrongful arrest lawsuits that could be initiated once the former cop is found guilty.

Guyger’s defense attorneys, on the other hand, may not be nearly as confident as their prosecutorial counterparts of their latest move was any indication. Her murder trial was initially slated to begin in August before it was pushed back until late September, more than a year after Guyger killed Jean.

There were also reports that Guyger, who has been out on bail since her indictment in December, may have violated the terms of her conditional release by living her best life and vacationing on a Caribbean cruise, which was subpoenaed for its records last month. In addition to possibly showing Guyger violated her bail, the subpoena could allow prosecutors to portray her as a carefree vacationer following what appeared to be a cold-blooded murder of an innocent man.

There is also the testimony from an eyewitness who recorded video just moments after the shooting, showing Guyger talking on her phone and the paramedics removing Jean’s body. Guyger’s lawyers were scrambling to keep her from the witness stand.

Guyger, herself, has also taken painstaking measures to show her purported innocence, including getting a complete makeover in an apparent play for sympathy from the judge during a court appearance in January.

Still, the apparent evidence is seemingly overwhelmingly not in Guyger’s favor.

On Sept. 6, Guyger said that following a long day on the job as a Dallas police officer, she implausibly mistook his apartment for her own and, after ordering Jean not to move, shot him twice before realizing the error of her ways. Her story was met with doubt because of a number of factors, especially her assertion that Jean’s door was ajar. Videos posted on social media by neighbors appeared to show that apartment doors in the building shut automatically, which seemed to indicate that Guyger was lying.

In addition to the inconsistencies in her alibis, which have changed several times, Dallas police, of which Guyger was a member for five years before being fired, appeared to be helping to cover up the shooting for their colleague. The department was accused of allowing Guyger enough time to scrub her social media accounts and get her story straight before turning herself in three days after killing Jean. It also gave Guyger enough time to move out of her apartment, which was never searched by police despite five warrants allowing them to do so.

Murder charges against a police officer are notoriously hard to prosecute. There are roughly 1,000 police shootings every year in the United States, but officers seldom face justice. According to CNN, only 80 cops were arrested on murder or manslaughter charges for on-duty shootings between 2005 and April 2017. However, only 35 percent of those arrests led to convictions in that 12-year period.

Atlanta Police shot and killed a activist Oscar Cain with there cams turned off 4/25/2019

The Atlanta Police Department incident report detailing the fatal shooting of community activist, Oscar Cain, gives very little details on his murder because the police officer’s body camera had been shut off.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) identified the death of an armed man who fled an officers’ pursuit as 31-year-old Oscar Cain. Cain was best known in his Atlanta community as an activist and community organizer; named the Atlanta Field Director for the League of Young Voters Education Fund and later, with the GenY Project of the American Friends Service Committee, took the lead in a campaign to force the Atlanta Police Department to equip police with body cameras.

The incident report in question was written as a result of the Cain shooting which took place on March 31 in Southwest Atlanta. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “next to nothing” was detailed in the report which only consisted of three sentences; “I, Officer (Marquee) Kelley, discharged my city issued 9mm Glock … at a suspect at 501 Connelle (sic) Avenue…”

Kelley is currently on a three-day leave from the department, a standard practice after an officer’s weapon is discharged during the line of duty. His city-issued Glock is currently in possession of the police department. Black America Web details upon Kelly’s return he was placed on administrative duty. That assignment was before the investigation was completed and also before Cain’s burial.

Additional details report Atlanta police Chief Erika Shields originally planned to place Officer Kelley back into full duty before objecting to administrative duties.

Florida Police Officers Who Slammed A 15 Year-Old Black Boy’s Head To The Ground In Viral Arrest Video Said He Was Acting “Aggressive 4/24/2019

A Florida police deputy has been placed on restricted duty after cellphone video footage surfaced of two white officers slamming the head of a pepper-sprayed black teenager against the ground while placing him under arrest on Thursday.

Thousands of people shared videos of the incident on Twitter and Facebook over the weekend, tagging them “#JusticeForLucca,” and demanding that the officers be fired or prosecuted.

Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony said in a statement Friday that the department would conduct a “thorough investigation” into the incident and said that Deputy Christopher Krickovich, one of the officers pictured in the video, had been placed on restricted duty.

In the affidavit, Krickovich said that he and his partner, Sgt. Greg LaCerra, responded to a call from a McDonald’s in Tamarac, Florida, at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday after employees reported a large group of teenagers gathering for a fight outside the restaurant. He wrote that the McDonald’s was a popular after-school gathering place for students from a nearby high school and the scene of frequent fights — including an incident the day before that had caused damage to a bystander’s car.

Krickovich and LaCerra arrived after the fight had ended, per the affidavit. As they ordered the crowd of teens to disperse, they identified one of the perpetrators from Wednesday’s fight who had been warned not to trespass in the area again and took him into custody.

“While I was dealing with the male on the ground, I observed his phone slide to the right of me and then behind me. I observed a teen wearing a red tank top reach down and attempt to grab the male student’s phone,” Krickovich wrote.

When LaCerra ordered the other boy to stay back, he said, the teenager “took an aggressive stance” toward the officer and “bladed his body and began clenching his fists.”

LaCerra pepper-sprayed the teen in the face and forced him to the ground, Krickovich wrote. There were more than 200 students in the crowd, according to Krickovich, and this is when many of them started recording the incident on their phones.

Per the affidavit, the officers feared for their safety and worked to restrain the teenager on the ground in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. Krickovich said that he hit the 15-year-old with a closed fist on the right side of his head as “a distractionary technique” to get the teen to release his right hand from under his head. “This technique was successful and I was able to place him into handcuffs without further incident.”

Additional videos of the incident taken by other students surfaced on social media throughout the weekend.

The original video and others that emerged were shared across Twitter and Facebook on Saturday, with many calling for the officers in question to be fired or prosecuted for brutality.

In a preplanned meeting with black leaders Saturday, Broward County Sheriff Tony said that he was taking the investigation into the matter seriously but emphasized the importance of following the appropriate procedures.

“That’s the most electrifying and dangerous situation for a law enforcement administrator to handle. Any time a white deputy is involved in contact with using force on a black youth, this thing blows up,” he said. “How we handle that from an administrative standpoint has to be very tactful.”

“I’m not going to sit and try to brush anything under the table,” he said. “The facts are what they are.”

THE WHITE PEOPLE THAT KILLED BY DRAGGING HIM BEHIND THERE TRUCK IS EXCUTED 4/24/2019

JASPER, Texas (AP) — A technology company was almost ready to bring up to 300 new jobs to Jasper, Texas, but in the final stages of recent negotiations, a potential deal-breaker emerged: the community’s history as the place where three white men dragged a black man behind a pickup, killing him.

The 1998 death of James Byrd Jr. was one of the most gruesome hate crimes in U.S. history, and it gave the company president pause in the discussions about where to locate his firm’s newest facility. Local clergy and community leaders made their case that the town of 7,600 people is not defined by a murder that happened almost 21 years ago.

They were able to convince the executive “that we are a lot different than what the world sees us as,” said Eddie Hopkins, head of the Jasper Economic Development Corporation.

The town’s past will be revisited this coming week, when the convicted ringleader in Byrd’s slaying is scheduled to be executed. Local leaders insist Jasper is a welcoming place that punished Byrd’s killers and will never forget what happened to him. But other townspeople, as well as members of Byrd’s family, believe Jasper has never fully accepted the crime’s place in its history. They say some tensions between the white and black communities remain unresolved.

“I think, quite frankly, people in Jasper are tired of talking about it. They want to forget it,” said Mylinda Washington, 66, one of Byrd’s sisters. “It happened here, and we need to always have that in front of us.”

In the early morning hours of June 7, 1998, three white men beat Byrd after offering him a ride. They then chained the 49-year-old to the back of a truck and dragged his body for nearly 3 miles along a secluded road in the piney woods outside Jasper. Byrd was alive for at least two miles before his body was ripped to pieces. Prosecutors said he was targeted because he was black.

John William King, 44, an avowed racist who orchestrated the attack, is slated to be put to death Wednesday. He will be the second man executed in the case. Lawrence Russell Brewer was executed in 2011. The third participant, Shawn Allen Berry, was sentenced to life in prison.

Before Byrd’s death, the community about 140 miles northeast of Houston, near the Texas-Louisiana border, was known more for the timber industry and for tourism at nearby Sam Rayburn Lake.

Back in 1998, the city was “incredibly progressive” as it was led by an African American mayor and had other African Americans in local leadership positions, said Cassy Burleson, a researcher at Baylor University who has been studying Jasper since the dragging.

The current interim mayor, Gary Gatlin, recalled how community leaders of all races came together and helped the town heal. “It certainly doesn’t go away, and we certainly remember what happened,” Gatlin said.

But racial tension resurfaced after Jasper’s first black police chief was fired in 2012, and two of the three black city council members who hired the chief were ousted in a recall election. The recall effort was marred by racial slurs.

City council member Rashad Lewis, who is black, was 12 when Byrd was killed. He said the dragging death unearthed racial hostility in his hometown. He remembers classmates wearing Confederate belt buckles and shirts right after Byrd was killed.

When he moved back to Jasper several years ago, Lewis said he ran for office because of a lack of minority representation. He is the only African American on the five-member council, which runs a community that is more than half African American. About 34 percent of the African American population lives below the poverty line.

Lewis, 33, is now running against Gatlin, hoping to become the second African American mayor in Jasper history. The election is May 4.

“As long as we keep a blindfold to the incident, we will never be able to move forward,” he said.

During his mayoral campaign, Lewis said, he’s had at least one online racial slur directed at him.

One of Jasper’s religious leaders, the Rev. Ronald Foshage, acknowledges that there is some prejudice in the town. But he said “you are going to find that anywhere.”

“It’s not the majority of our people, and it’s not who we are,” Foshage said.

Lewis said he proposed an annual day to come together in honor of Byrd, but his idea was rejected. While a park was named for Byrd and a bench in his honor was placed outside the courthouse where two of his killers were tried, nothing in Jasper memorializes the dragging death itself.

Gatlin said Jasper has not minimized Byrd’s death but “we’ve just tried to move on.”

In the years since the dragging, Byrd’s relatives created the Byrd Foundation for Racial Healing . Louvon Byrd Harris, 61, another of Byrd’s sisters, said her family still hopes to build a multicultural center and museum in Jasper to promote diversity and education.

Both sisters, who live in Houston, said they hope their brother’s death continues to spur people to combat hate, wherever it may occur.

“Hate has not gone away,” Washington said. “Every week in the news, we’re reminded of that.”

A BLACKWOMAN WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT A BLUE LIVES MATTER FLAG GOT PAID!!! AN AMAZING 100,000 SETTLEMENT 4/29/2019

A Black corrections employee has settled her lawsuit with Multnomah County, Oregon for $100,000, following complaints about stress and racial harassment that she endured over a coworker’s “Blue Lives Matter” flag, and after she put up an “equity” wall herself.

Karimah Guion-Pledgure, who was a corrections technician with the county Department of Community Justice up until Friday, agreed to resign from her job as part of the settlement, although she will be able to reapply for other positions, her attorney Ashlee Albies told CNN.

Guion-Pledgure filed the lawsuit in January 2019, but noted that she and other Black coworkers had complained about a probation officer hanging the “Blue Lives Matter” flag in the workplace when it first went up in 2017.

In the lawsuit, Guion-Pledgure argued that the Blue Lives Matter flag “co-opts” the Black Lives Matter movement’s well-known slogan and “repurposes it to shift focus to law enforcement — a chosen profession, not a racial identity — and thus denigrates, dilutes, and demeans the purpose of the Black Lives Matter movement.”

The complaint notes that Guion-Pledgure went to supervisors in late 2017 and early 2018 to complain about the flag, and also took it up to the Multnomah County chief operating officer in 2018.

By July 2018, Guion-Pledgure decided to build an “equity wall” in her workplace, showing photos of people of color killed by police in the U.S., as well as immigrant children separated from their parents at the border as a result of Trump’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy.

That same month, Guion-Pledgure took leave due to health issues that she said was a result of the harassment she faced. The lawsuit initially sought $20,000 in lost wages and $400,000 for emotional distress and suffering, CNN notes.

As part of the settlement, Guion-Pledgure will have to file a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, at which point the settlement will be filed with Multnomah County Circuit Court.

Young man goes on a missing by giving happy bag to 20,000 homeless people. 4/22/2019

Chicago, IL — Jahkil Jackson, an 11-year old boy from Chicago, has already helped over 20,000 homeless people in his city by giving away ‘Blessing Bags’ through his organization Project I Am. At the young age of 8, he started helping people through small ways and he is up for bigger goals as he grows older.“Seeing people on the street made me really sad because I thought everybody had homes,” Jackson told Today.

Jackson was 5-years old when he first saw a homeless person. Since then, he asked his mother if they could buy houses for all homeless people. While it seemed to be a far-fetched idea for a young child, he made efforts to help them through the organization called Project I Am that he established when he was 8-years old.

Through the organization, he gave toiletries, food, and water stuffed in what he called ‘Blessing Bags’ to homeless people in Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Atlanta, Virginia, and Idaho. His efforts are not limited nationally. He has also helped people internationally, including those orphans in Mbabane, Swaziland, volcano victims in Guatemala, and hurricane survivors in Florida, Houston, and Puerto Rico.

“When I’m giving the bags to people it makes me feel like I’m getting one step closer to demolishing the whole homeless thing… and it makes me happy to see the smiles on their faces,” Jackson said.

Jackson, who was named a Youth Ambassador for one of the world’s leading anti-poverty organizations Heartland Alliance International in 2016, has also been acknowledged by former President Barack Obama as one of the three most influential people of 2017.

“To know that someone like him knows my name, and supports what I do encourages me to keep moving forward every day,” he said in an interview with Forbes.

Basketball superstar LeBron James has also recognized him and helped promote Project I Am. Jackson, who loves basketball as a fan and a player, dreams of having his own NBA team one day.

Moreover, Jackson continues to help more less-fortunate people in any way he possibly can.

“There’s way more homeless people in the world that I could help, that I need to help.

Isis say that is alright to harvest organs out of the living 4/21/2019

(NEWSER) – The Islamic State may be harvesting organs from living prisoners for profit, according to a Reuters exclusive. The news company obtained a copy of Fatwa Number 68, which provides a religious justification for organ harvesting. “The apostate’s life and organs don’t have to be respected and may be taken with impunity,” the document states. “Organs that end the captive’s life if removed: The removal of that type is also not prohibited.” “Apostates” could refer to anyone from captive Christians to Sunni or Shiite Muslims, Reuters reports. The document opens up the possibility the Islamic State is taking organs from prisoners—fatally if need be—and selling them.

The fatwa comes from the terrorist group’s Islamic scholars. Reuters notes their interpretation of Islam does not match that of the majority of Muslims. The document—which was created last January—was obtained by the US government in a special forces raid in May. This is the first time any of the documents from the raid have been made public. While there is currently no proof the Islamic State is trafficking human organs, Iraq has accused them of doing it in the past. An Iraqi ambassador is pressuring the UN to use the document as evidence against the Islamic State. Read the full story here. (Read more Islamic State stories.)

Police Officer Wounded in Wild Shootout in Upper Manhattan 4/21/2019

A plainclothes officer was wounded in an exchange of gunfire with an armed man in Upper Manhattan on Thursday afternoon, the police said. The gunman was fatally shot.

The shooting occurred at about 4:30 p.m. inside a paid parking lot on Broadway near West 187th Street, in the Washington Heights neighborhood, the police said.

The officer, Justin Vartanian, 34, was taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital with a wound under his right arm, the police said. He was expected to survive.

The gunman, Luis Leizado, 42, was hit in the chest and died a half-hour later at a nearby hospital, the police said. A black handgun was recovered from him. Early reports that there were two gunmen turned out to be false.

The incident began at 4:24 p.m. when a 911 caller reported that someone was firing a gun at the corner of Wadsworth Avenue and 187th Street, the police commissioner, James P. O’Neill, said during a news conference at the Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital.

Moments later, two plainclothes officers from the 34th Precinct arrived in an unmarked car and spotted Mr. Leizado with a gun fleeing down 187th Street toward Broadway, Mr. O’Neill said.

Officer Vartanian got out of the car and chased the gunman on foot as he ran around the corner and into a parking lot on Broadway. The fleeing man hid behind a car at the back of the lot and fired three rounds, hitting the officer under his right arm. The wounded officer managed to fire back once.

“The amount of courage this police officer showed is quite unbelievable,” Mr. O’Neill said.

Then, the second officer, who has not been identified, barreled into the parking lot in the unmarked police car, jumped out and started firing from behind the driver’s side door, the commissioner said. He squeezed off three shots at the gunman. One of the gunman’s bullets went through the windshield of the police car where the driver sits.

“This was a fast, intense episode,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said. “We saw, from the video we observed, a very, very dangerous situation unfold.”

The shootout was filmed by a security camera and by one of the officer’s body cameras, the police said.

Ahuva Kaplan, 25, who lives across the street from the scene, said she witnessed the events through her window. She saw a man hide behind a car and draw a gun. “They chased him into the parking lot,” she said. “Then I heard gunshots, about five.”

She said many more officers arrived over the next few minutes. “A loud speaker on a police car said, come out! Come out!” Mrs. Kaplan said. “They were trying to get him out and there was more fire. He was behind a car, hiding.”

On Thursday evening, dozens of officers combed through the parking lot, sandwiched between two buildings on the east side of Broadway, looking for evidence.

Jorge Ozuna, 65, said he was walking nearby when he heard shots ring out. “It came from inside a parking lot,” Mr. Ozuna said. “A lot of police officers came running with guns in their hands.”

A few minutes later, he said, the wounded officer was carried away by two other officers.

“He seemed alert, conscious,” Mr. Ozuna said. “He was touching his hurt arm.”

Father Ambiorix Rodriguez said he was preparing for Mass at the St. Elizabeth Church on Wadsworth Avenue and 187th Street when he began getting messages about the gunshots and the wounded officer.

“As soon as I heard I began praying for him,” he said. “We have had some shootings here recently.”

Frederick County Officials Investigating Shooting At Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church 4/21/2019

FREDERICK, Md. — Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened at Jackson’s Chapel United Methodist Church on Saturday afternoon.

At about 2:45 p.m., officers were called to Jackson’s Chapel, which is located in the 5600 block of Ballenger Creek Pike in Frederick County, after a reported shooting. A funeral service was taking place at the time of the incident.

Deputies arrived to the scene and found out that two victims were suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds and, although both victims were taken to area hospitals, the extent of their injuries are unknown at this time. They are, however, believed to be non-life threatening.

It was reported that the suspect fled the area prior to the arrival of emergency personnel, so detectives are currently on the scene attempting to determine suspect information. Although the suspect has not yet been located, the Sheriff’s Office does not believe that this was a random shooting.

Detectives believe that the shooting occurred after an altercation between individuals at the service.

Georgia woman accused of starving, burning stepdaughter 4/20/2019

Jury selection will continue Tuesday in the murder trial of a Gwinnett County woman accused of feeling hurt stepdaughter through a slow and agonizing starvation.

In 2013, Gwinnett County investigators found the charred body of 10-year-old Emani Moss stuffed inside at an apartment complex. Investigators say the girl weighed only 32 pounds at the time of her death.

Investigators say Emani’s stepmother, Tiffany Moss, and her dad, Eman Moss, are responsible for her brutal death.

In 2015, Eman Moss pleaded guilty to felony murder and cruelty to children, saying that he had made a “terrible mistake.” He’s now serving life without parole and is slated to testify against is estranged wife.

In 2015, Moss’ attorney says the father chose not to take Emani to the hospital in the weeks before she died because Tiffany had previously been arrested for beating Emani. His lawyer also claimed he was unaware of the abuse and starvation Emani endured– claiming Tiffany was responsible for taking care of his daughter while he was at work.

Moss was relatively quiet during the first day of jury selection at the Gwinnett County Courthouse, but did ask a few jurors about their ability to be impartial given the gruesome evidence jurors will hear in the case.

District Attorney Danny Porter and Judge George Hutchinson questioned every juror about their ability to impartially hear the evidence and potentially render a death sentence if Moss is convicted.

Tiffany Moss’ trial was scheduled for July of last year but was postponed while two lawyers from the state’s public defender system appealed to try to overturn a lower court’s decision allowing Moss to represent herself.

The Georgia Supreme Court declined to hear the appeal, which means Moss will be able to act as her own lawyer.

If she is found guilty, it will be the first death sentence in the state of Georgia in more than five years. Judge Hutchinson indicated jury selection would take the rest of the week, with opening statements from prosecutors and the murder defendant next week.

Police Investigating Possible Body Parts Found Behind Loop Building 4/19/2019

Chicago police are investigating what may be human remains found in an alley Friday in the Loop.

Five possible human hearts were found about 9:30 a.m. in the alley off the first block of East Benton Place, according to a police source.

Police could not say whether the organs are actually human until they are examined by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The medical examiner’s office has not released any details about the remains.

A sextraffic sting of dozens of people arrested during the final four 4/18/2019

(UPI) — More than 50 people were arrested for attempting to solicit children for sex or trafficking victims in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area this month during the NCAA Final Four, authorities said.

Twenty-eight people were from trafficking situations during the operation, including one minor, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said in a statement Wednesday. The five-day sting netted 47 felony arrests for soliciting a minor or prostitutes under 16. Eleven people were arrested on probable cause for sex trafficking.

“This operation is an example of the aggressive steps necessary to stop traffickers and johns who buy and sell people for sex in our communities,” BCA Supt. Drew Evans said.

Officials said undercover agents posed as minors or sex buyers on social media platforms and arranged a meeting place.

“While the eyes of the basketball world were focused on the court at the U.S. Bank Stadium, some were attempting to hide in the shadows of our great community, trafficking and exploiting women and girls, inflicting unimaginable physical and emotional harm, and profiting from pain,” St. Paul Police Chief Todd Axtell said.

Several victims advocate organizations including Alexandria House, Breaking Free and The Linkhave helped the women who were rescued.

A similar sting operation was done in January and February for the Super Bowl in Atlanta. Police there arrested 169 people over an 11-day period.

8 people was indicted out of an apartment buildind 4/28/2019

READING, Pa. – The raid of a rooming house in Reading last month has led to the indictments of eight alleged gang members on federal sex trafficking charges.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Philadelphia filed the indictment Thursday, accusing the eight suspects of trafficking women and girls by “force and manipulation.”

“We are thankful that the Grand Jury returned this indictment to get these people off the streets of this city,” said U.S. Attorney William McSwain. “Sex trafficking, especially of minor children, is a pervasive problem that demands an aggressive response. We stand ready with our federal and local law enforcement partners to identify and dismantle gangs that perpetuate this abuse.”

The suspects were identified by federal authorities as Shaquile W. Newson, Alexander M. Malave, Karvarise E. Person, Bryanna C. Concepcion, Fatiema Bivens, Savion Garcia, Isaiah Rowe, and Michael Diaz-Walker.

Authorities said they conspired to recruit, entice, harbor, transport, provide, obtain, and maintain by any means females to engage in commercial sex acts. Some of the victims, they said, were under the age of 18.

The suspects’ arrests come nearly a month after a team of federal, state and local law enforcement authorities, armed with search warrants, converged on a rooming house on South Fourth Street, going room to room as part of their investigation.

The rooming house served as the headquarters for the eight suspects and their violent gang, known as the Sevens, according to federal prosecutors.

The gang’s name, officials said, is derived from the word “loyalty,” which also has seven letters. The Sevens gang, they said, is formed by members of other gangs, including the Gangster Disciples, Crips, Bloods and Latin Kings.

Gang’s co-founders

Officials identified Newson, aka “Raw” and “San,” and Malave, aka “Buju” and “Ace,” as the Sevens’ co-founders. Newson gave orders and sanctioned and approved all gang members’ activities; Malave, also a member of the Bloods, ensured that gang rules were followed and resorted to violence when they were not, according to the indictment.

Gang’s generals

Person, aka “Crazy K,” “Killa,” and “K,” and Concepcion, aka “Bree,” were generals in the gang, officials said. Both worked to recruit women to engage in sexual encounters, with Person helping to determine what rates to charge and Concepcion posting advertisements for paid encounters and training the girls and women to engage in them for money, according to the indictment.

Gang’s guards

Garcia, aka “Quiet,” and Rowe, aka “Izzy,” served as guards of the rooming house and enforcers in the gang, authorities said. They were tasked with controlling access to and maintaining physical security for the rooming house, including watching for police activity on the block, ensuring that the women and girls did not flee the building, and recruiting women and girls to work as prostitutes, according to the indictment.

Other members

Bivens was “a money maker” who engaged in sexual encounters for money and forced, or attempted to force, other females to engage in sexual encounters for money, according to the indictment.

Diaz-Walker, aka “Big Mike,” assisted in posting advertisements for paid sexual encounters, took photos of the females for use in those ads, and drove the females to the locations of the encounters, according to the indictment.

The suspects were charged with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and in sex trafficking of minors.

“We want to thank Homeland Security Investigations, Reading Police Department, and Pennsylvania State Police for their invaluable work investigating this case

Manchester United fans racially abuse Ashley Young after Barcelona defeat 4/17/2019

Kick It Out have condemned vile racist abuse of Ashley Young posted on Twitter by apparent Manchester United fans following the Champions League defeat against Barcelona.

United suffered a convincing 3-0 defeat at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night, adding to the 1-0 loss at Old Trafford last week to send Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side crashing out of the quarter-finals.

In the wake of the defeat, racially abusive messages were posted on social media site Twitter from a series of anonymous accounts about England international Young, labelling him a “f****** n*****” and an “ape c***”.

Anti-racism group Kick It Out issued a statement to highlight the abuse to Twitter, and called on the social media giants to “take serious action to tackle the rampant discrimination” across the social media network.

“Yet another black player, this time Ashley Young, targeted with racist abuse on social media after tonight’s Champions League game,” the Kick It Out Twitter account posted on Tuesday night.

“Again, we’re left asking @TwitterUK the same question – when will you take serious action to tackle the rampant discrimination on your platform?”

Young started the second leg in Barcelona at left-back in the absence of the suspended Luke Shaw and found himself targeted by Lionel Messi, who prospered from United’s defensive troubles by scoring twice in the first half.

But the match has been overshadowed by this latest incident of abuse, which follows a series of issues across England as well as racist chanting aimed as England internationals including Danny Rose and Raheem Sterling during the Euro 2020 qualifier victory over Montenegro last March.

Tennessee supressing the black vote 4/17/2019

Tennessee state legislators want to add a new trick to its Jim Crow voter suppression playbook that could rival Georgia’s racist efforts that most recently proved successful during last year’s pivotal midterm elections.

In a 71-26 party-line vote, the state’s House approved a measure on Monday that would create restrictions on groups that hold voter registration drives and subject them to potential jail time and fines, the Tennessean reported. The bill is now winding its way through the state Senate.

Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett claimed the law seeks to preserve the integrity of the election process. But opponents said they believe it was created to target African-Americans after there was a surge in Black voter registration in 2018.

“(This bill) discourages people from volunteering in the Volunteer State,” said Tequila Johnson, co-founder of the Equity Alliance, one of several voter advocacy groups that protested the bill on Monday.

The legislation would put up roadblocks that would discourage traditional voter registration efforts at churches and other places.

“An organization registering 100 or more people would have to: provide the county elections coordinator with contact information for the people conducting the drive, notify the coordinator about where the drive is being held, complete voter registration training through the elections coordinator and file a sworn statement stating it’ll abide by all voter registration laws and procedures,” according to CNN.

Failure to comply could result in a criminal penalty.

Under another provision, individuals or organizations that submit 100 to 500 “deficient” voter registration applications could receive a fine ranging from $150 to $2,000. Submitting more than 500 “deficient” forms could result in a fine of up to $10,000.

Meanwhile, Democrats in the U.S. House were investigating Georgia’s voter suppression efforts in November.

In March, The House Oversight and Reform Committee asked Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and his secretary of state successor Brad Raffensperger, both Republicans, to turn over documents related to the elections.

Kemp as Georgia secretary of state oversaw his own race for governor, which was close but ended in defeat for Stacey Abrams. There was damning evidence that pointed to Kemp using a variety of voter suppression tactics to target Black voters in particular. Abrams was competing to become the nation’s first Black woman governor.

Kemp found himself in the middle of a firestorm before Election Day when the Associated Press reported his office had placed more than 53,000 voter registration applications on hold—about 70 percent of them from African-Americans. He also faced multiple lawsuits, including one from a group of voting rights organizations accusing him of using a racially-biased method to purge the names of about 700,000 voters from the rolls. And on Election Day, predominantly African-American urban districts encountered lots of problems at the polls.

Some academics joined activists in criticizing Tennessee’s suppression effort.

Female Bus Driver Got Urine Thrown In Her Face 4/16/2019

New York, NY — Trellis Robinson, a 43-year old MTA bus driver, suffered from injuries after a man attacked her and threw urine in her face while she was at a bus stop loading up passengers. The incident is just one of many recently reported attacks on bus operators in the New York City area.Robinson was driving a BX2 route last Friday and was stopped at 138th Street and Grand Concourse when a man on the sidewalk suddenly threw a liquid — believed to be urine — on her face.

“I made the right turn to load up my passengers, as they loaded I close the door and I as I proceeded to turn my head to look in the mirror to pull out of the bus stop he was at my window,” Robinson told NBC 4 New York.

Robinson said the shocking incident has been traumatic for her.

“It literally went all in my face my hair, it dripped all down the left side of my body, it went inside my shirt. All around my neck,” Robinson said.

Earlier that day, another female bus conductor was punched in the face and splashed with urine at Brooklyn Avenue Station before the suspect fled.

Both women were treated at a local hospital after suffering from pain, nausea, and redness and burning sensation around the eyes.

Oneshia Portlette-Shade, chairwoman of the Transport Workers Union Local 100, said the attack was a part of a growing problem. In other incidents, bus drivers have been spit on, thrown with bleach, and even stabbed.

“These senseless attacks are disgusting and disgraceful,”  NYC Transit President Andy Byford said. “I’ve asked NYPD to step up patrols in response to the subway incident in addition to our prior request to increase police presence on buses, and we will do whatever we can to help NYPD identify the perpetrator or perpetrators including sharing any video surveillance that may exist.”

No one has been arrested yet in connection to the attack. An investigation is ongoing and the police are still looking for the suspect, who was described as “a black male, about 5-feet-7 inches tall, 160 to 180 pounds, wearing a Navy sweatshirt with a hood, khaki pants and red sneakers.”

2 sister in Miami was killed in a drive by shooting in Miami 4/16/2019

NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade police homicide investigators continue to try to solve an apparent drive-by shooting that left two sisters dead and 2 other people hospitalized in Northwest Miami-Dade.

Juan Perez, the Director of Miami-Dade Police, is calling this case a top priority and stopped by the CBS4 live truck at the crime scene late Monday afternoon to make a public appeal for the community to come forward.

Perez told CBS4’s Peter D’Oench, “I have two daughters of my own. This case is of ultimate importance and I can’t imagine the mother and father’s grief knowing that their daughters lost their lives for nothing being caught up in a crossfire. I can’t even imagine what they are going through and the grief they share. So that’s why I am out here appealing to the community and asking for help. I wanted to spark up some interest in this and I am so grateful that you are here doing this story. Because anytime we accept the horrific gun violence this can be the result and so I am asking that people come forward.”

Just hours before Perez spoke, a Stop the Violence truck drove by the crime scene repeatedly with a flashing message appealing for the public’s help in this case.

Police say Stephanie Telusme, 27, and her 23-year-old sister, Joanna, were shot and killed near Northwest 19 Avenue and 60 Street early Sunday morning.

Their family says they were visiting a friend before they went out for the night.

“They weren’t even the ones who were targeted. They were innocent bystanders, according to their cousin Terry Silien. “It’s just a sad unfortunate situation right now that my family has to go through and have to bury two young ladies,” he continued.

“They were just out to enjoy a Saturday night and this happened,” he said. “They were here to visit friends.”

Two other shooting victims, Robert Allen, 30 and Jennifer Charles, 24, were also shot and transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition, Miami-Dade police say.

Officers responded immediately after receiving a ShotSpotter signal around 1:30am Sunday. When police attempted to stop a vehicle leaving the area, the driver refused to stop, and soon after, abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police set up a perimeter and three men were detained and questioned, however, two were released and the third was arrested for an unrelated possession of marijuana charge.

No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting. The motive is still unknown.

It’s not known who was being targetted.

Army woman face road rage defends herself calls 911 and she is arrested 4/15/2019

Kentucky: A black Army soldier was attack during her drive to work at fort knox . The female Army soldier was driving along when she notice an old white woman was yelling out the her window calling this woman all sorts of racist names. The white ekderly woman follow the 32 year old Army service woman to what looks like a gas station. When they both came to a complete stop at the gas station or strip mall the white woman charged her car opened up the passenger side of the car and tried to pull the black Army service woman out of her own car while scream racial words to this woman.

Kai Waters, 33 is a decorated Army veteran who serve many tours in Iraq and Afganistan. Im mean this woman was loaded with metals for someone so young. When she got out of the car she was armed with a knife to perfect herself. A knife that was given to her as reward from the U.S. Army and she stabbed the woman on the leg. Then she called 911.

When the cops came they was still going at it . The cops did not even try to find out who called 911 and who was the perpetrator they just grab the blackwoman who was in full dress uniform and arrested her. Here is her mug shot1!!!

The judge restricted her to the base when she had a home off base . This highly decorate Army woman did not stand a chance!!!But there is a problem and i know she will get off . She was charged with felony assault and that could have landed her in jail for at least a year and half.

But there is new news coming out for Kai Waters that news is that she one of those self hatting Negro’s that caught up in a racially base road rage. talk about irony !!!! During my research of this story i found out the Kai Waters have a bad habbit of hatting on her on race and uplifting our oppressors in this county. Look at this video.

At this time Kai Waters is fighting for her carrier and lively hood in the military. I used to be in the Navy the military don’t take kindly to of base problems that have felony connected to it. She might get of she might not but after seeing this video and how she us black victimization to her advantage when it suite her. Mind you the white woman she was fighting claimed up into her white privilege . And the cops just took her. Now everthing she has ever worked for after getting that knife from the military is hanging at the balance.:

Latoshia Daniels the woman who killed a paster is pleading not guilty 4/15/2019

MEMPHIS, TN : Latoshia Daniels The woman who accused of shooting a pastor is pleading not guilt of shooting the pastier and his wife just after traveling state to state and going to the pastor house where his wife was also there and shooting his wife and the pastor a few times in the head and chest. The wife live and survived with minor injures but the pastor did not survive the encounter.

There are report that Latoshia Daniels claim that the wife had the gun she took it away and she shot both of them in self defense. Ms Daniels retained a high profile lawyer to defend her in her case. The family seemed have reached out to the lawyer and retained his services for this high profile case.

There are reports that Ms Daniels came to the pastord home and shot both of them while screaming “you broke my heart”!!!

Personally, How ever this case comes out the pastor ( Brodes Perry ) was cheating on his wife and caused all of this to happen. There is a Hugh legacy with black pastors cheating on there wife with the members of there congregation. Pastors should be placing a standard of conduct for all of his followers to follow. It don’t seem like the case in the the 21 century and with this case. More and more pastors are getting caught up in these domestic disputes to much now adays. From past reports of pastors cheating on there spouse results in to many shoot outs from the pastor or the one the pastor is cheating on or there mates.

You have to really start to ask yourself are these pastors really pastors or are there pimps with a harem in the churches . Because, in the black community mostly all black churches are load with mostly women in the congregation.

KENDRICK JOHNSON MOTHER Talks being THREATEN & HARASSED! (Full Video Exclusive) 4/15/2019

This is a sad story where a family have to dig up there son Kendrick Johnson ,not once ,not twice but three time to find out what happened there loved . Kendrick Johson is the young man that was killed at his school when people found this man upside down in a gym mat. I do believe that this young man organs where missing to !!! The family of Kendrick Johnson is look for answers and at this time the family have got enough evidence that Kendrick did not kill himself and the family is headed to court.

Let me say that these state medical examiners are corrupt to the core. They cannot be trusted at all if the family have to continue digging up there love one to answers to there death. I do believe that the family of Kendick Johnson should go after the other two medical examiners jobs if they find out who kid there kid.

There is a mass cover up concerning this case and the police and the FBI have front row seats to the mayhem. There is reports that Kendrick Johnson might have been killed by a kid at his school that haves a father the works for the FBI.It seems there is always a kid that have a family member in important rolls in law enforcement or Government that thinks that they are above the law. I do not have the name of the suspect that the family of Kendrick that the suspect father is an important person to the Federal Bureau of Investigations though.

With that in mind this case is going to be a hard fight for the family of Kendrick Johnson because what is happening in America today when it come to the killing of young black men who are poor. It will a long up hill battle for the family and the family deserves justice for there child.

It seems like there is corruption every where when i comes to cases like this. First the medical examiner, then the police and the FBI ,what is next the judge!!! Well we are going to find out. I find it amazing that its been about 7 years and this family have not receive no form of justice for there son.

There is also reports that Kendrick Johnson was struck by some form of blount object like a dumb bell and who ever struck the young man with the dumb bell had help and told the other person not to say anything.

It is amazing how they came from Kendrick Johnson was looking for his shoe and fell upside down in the mat and died that way too someone hit the young man with a blunt object and rapped him in that mat.

When i first heard of this story i always knew this story was not on the up and up . No one just falls in a mat and dies . But we will find out who killed him soon enough because the family is going to court and finally after all these years they have enough evidence to do so.

Cop’s caught the man that torched three black churches 4/13/2019

This man done did someything that has not been seen since the sixties when he decided to burn down 3 black churches by himself in 10 days. You can’t get no closer to the African American history than that. This man is pure evil to do such a thing and we at Redzonenews.Net can no way pass up this kind of story.

Holden Mathews , a son of a law enforcement officer purposely and satanically in all it forms burned down three place of worship. Now the police is trying to tell the public that the reason Holden Matthews targeted these churches is because the heavy music he listened to that talked about burning churches down to the grown

These people think people are stupid!!! Holden Mathews targeted these churches and plan his attack based on racial motivations.Authorities also said they took there time on this case because of the racial implications but people should refuse to believe that this man burned down these church other than hatred for black people and there place of worship.

It is not clear if Holden Matthews is a member of any fascist group and that this was just the work of a single individual. Report say that Holden’s father turned him in and now this man is facing 15 years in prison for his crimes.

The father of this young man was shocked and broken hearted when he found out what his son did and it is a shame a father have to see his son become a criminal and have the feeling that he have failed his son.

Remains of a 22 year old woman’s body was found in a vacant wooded lot 4/13/2019

The young lady you see above body was just found in a vacant lot in  Mt. Airy Forest. Her body was in that vacant lot for almost 4 months before they found her. It is said that the young ladies boy friend had something to do with it and at this time he is on trial for murder. Her boyfriend had an accomplice that help
Nickeisha Holloman, 23 boy friend to murder this beautiful young girl.

Nickeisha Holloman family has been looking for her for 4 months. Report says the family thought the police was playing around when she was reportedly missing. There is no motive at this time why this beautiful young queen was murder for. But it is a chance that this young lady was hanging with the wrong crowd , kind of like what happened to Kaneeka Jenkins up there in Chicago where this young lady was raped and stuff in a hotel freezer.

These young black ladies even the older ladies have a thing for thugs and this is the end result of that bad boy affection. This kind of thing is getting more prevalent in the black community where these young girls are hooking up with these bad boys because they think that fast life with guns and drugs as well as parting is the place to be. Where this kind of mind set is promoted among rap artist all over the united states. That is why these black women are attracted to this sort of men .Not knowing that just because you have a bull dog on your side and that bull dog looks good and good to have around don’t mean that dog won’t turn on you!!! This happening more and more in the black community where you can’t trust your man or woman at all

Iam so sorry to make this kind of report on redzone but it haves to be made!!! Because these thug men are now killing woman. Who ever heard of such a thing!!! But these cats have no limits and they live on the edge every day of there life but that is no excuse to murder a woman. It seems just back slapping your girl when she gets out of line is going by the waist side with the times now brothers are just shooting these women.

Everything To Know About The Black Couple That Went Missing In The Dominican Republic 4/9/2019

The families of Orlando Moore and his girlfriend, Portia Ravenelle, were searching for both New Yorkers who went missing while vacationing in the Dominican Republic late last month.

The couple traveled to the Dominican Republic on March 23 and was scheduled to return home four days later.

National Police spokesman Col. Frank Felix Durán Mejia said investigators met Monday night and were expected to release information about the case, CNN reported. But there was no timetable for when they would discuss the status of the case.

This comes against the backdrop of President Donald Trump weighing in Monday on the white American tourist who was released by her kidnappers in Uganda over the weekend. The president urged the Ugandan government to find her abductors. As of late Tuesday morning, he hadn’t made a public statement about the missing couple.

Investigators said what happened to the couple after they checked out of their hotel in Samana is a mystery. They failed to board their flight back to the United States, and there’s no record of them returning back home.

Moore’s sister, Lashay Turner, said her brother has a daughter and he would never just run off without a trace, according to WNBC-TV.

“I’m scared. I don’t know what’s going on. I’m saddened, my family is saddened by this and we just want my brother to return safe and alive,” said Turner who contacted the U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic before filing a police report when her brother became missing.

Turner recalled that she spoke with U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials who confirmed to her that the couple did not get on their return flight. The agency declined to speak publicly on the case, WNBC said. However, the U.S. Department of State said it was working with Dominican Republic authorities to locate the missing couple.

“When a U.S. citizen is missing, we work closely with local authorities as they carry out their search efforts and share information with families however we can,” the State Department said. “The welfare and safety of U.S. citizens abroad is one of the highest priorities of the Department of State. We stand ready to provide appropriate assistance to U.S. citizens in need and to their families.”

Meanwhile, the family was sending up prayers for the couple’s safe return.

“When these things happen, you always think of the worst, but we are hoping for the best,” Edith Walters, Moore’s grandmother, said.

Little girl will serve after being shot in the head 4/9/2019

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — “She’s still on a ventilator and in a coma, but she’s making big progress.”

Into the living room of a home on Byron Street in Henrico last Thursday afternoon, came a bullet which shattered the window and hit young Kemiyah Edwards in her head.

“The bullet came through the widow and hit her near the temple,” said her aunt Monday, asking that I not identify her.

Crime Insider sources tell me her grandmother loaded the five-year-old Glen Lea kindergartner into a car and stopped for help at the Oak Hill Shopping Plaza a few blocks away.

From there she was rushed to VCU Medical Center, where she is now in critical but stable condition.

“Besides prayers we have a GoFundMe set up so she can have what she needs when she comes home,” said her aunt.

Kemiyah is the only girl on both sides of her family. Her aunt credits the child’s stubborn, independent spirit with a splash of tomboy for her miraculous survival.  “She is very sassy, a ball of joy to be around,” she said. “Loves trolls and Minnie Mouse and Doc McStuffins.”

Crime Insider sources tell me investigators don’t believe the shooting was random.

Family members say they don’t know who pulled the trigger, but that whoever did should be ashamed of endangering a lot of young and innocent lives.

The investigation is ongoing Kemiyah’s family praying for her recovery and the gunman’s arrest.  “We encourage anyone that knows something to call police,” said the little girl’s aunt. “If this was your daughter, granddaughter, cousin or niece, you would want someone to come forward and say something.”

White Cop to Black Kids: ‘Wait Till Your Asses Turn 18. Then You’re Mine’ 4/8/2019

The first sentence of this story should read: “A Virginia police officer is under fire after he was captured on video insinuating that he can’t wait to subject a group of black middle school children to the horrors of the criminal justice system.”

But that would not be true.

In fact, the Richmond, Va., police officer-turned macabre soothsayer is most assuredly not under fire. The second paragraph of a story like this would usually reveal the officer’s name and explain how the police department disciplined the obviously biased officer, but don’t worry, the officer is perfectly fine. He is protected. Absolutely nothing has changed.Outstream Video00:0000:00

According to NBC News, the Richmond Police Department launched an internal investigation after 13-year-old Cameron Hillard, a student at Albert Hill Middle School in Richmond, Va., shared a clip of a police officer yelling out his cruiser window to a group of students.

In the video posted to Facebook, the students are walking to an afterschool activity when the cop, whom the Richmond Police Department confirmed was white, pulled up in front of the students.

“Someone said a curse word … like ‘F-the police.’” Cameron said. “It wasn’t me and my friends but he didn’t know who said it so he asked who said it.

“Even if we did say that, that’s our choice of words,” someone apparently smarter than the unnamed cop says in the video. Another person says “Yes sir,” which prompts the officer to reveal his hopes and dreams to the teens.

“Wait till your asses turn 18,” yells the officer. “Then you’re mine!”

And then, having fulfilled his civic duty of protecting and serving, he drove off.

In a statement, Richmond Police Interim Chief William C. Smith apologized to the students and said that the department launched an internal investigation into the incident after they were made aware of the video. When law enforcement officials concluded the investigation, they punished the officer harshly by assigning him to another part of the city and … well, that’s it.

“His actions do not reflect the values, training, or policies of the department,” said Smith of the officer whose name was withheld. “While these facts don’t minimize the incident, they do give you the totality of the person.”

Of course they don’t. There are a lot of things we don’t know about the anonymous ass-claimer. No one knows if he wears boxers or briefs. The short video also does not indicate whether or not he likes Brussels sprouts. Perhaps he was playing an augmented reality game on his phone, attempting to catch the elusive and rare Negro Pokemon.

However, the footage does show that there’s an officer who works for the Richmond Police Department who can barely wait for the day when he can subject black children to his ill intent. Of course, it is possible that the policeman was only referring to those specific children, in which case, it totally makes sense to just send him to the other side of town. Richmond is only 48.2 percent black, so I’m sure no other children are in danger.

On a positive note, the officer finally answered a question that has gone unanswered for decades.

Now we know: A dream deferred does not dry up like a raisin in the sun. Neither does it fester like a sore—and then run. However, it does stink like rotten meat … But only until our children black asses turns 18.

Unless, of course, someone like this officer in the Richmond Police Department with a gun, badge and the full authority of the law just “can’t wait.”

Family of 7-Year Old Black Girl Killed By Police Settles With the City of Detroit for $8 Million 4/8/2019

Detroit, MI — The family of Aiyana Stanley-Jones, a 7-year old girl shot and killed by a Detroit police officer, has received an $8.25 million settlement almost 9 years after the tragic incident. The settlement was finalized just days prior to the scheduled civil trial. On an early Sunday morning of May 2010, Aiyana was sleeping on a couch beside her grandmother, Mertilla Jones, when police officers suddenly entered the home in search for a murder suspect. The raid apparently went wrong as Aiyana got shot in the head after a short altercation between her grandmother and officer Joseph Weekley.

The officer claimed what happened was an accident and his gun discharged as he was struggling with Aiyana’s grandmother.

The incident was captured by a film crew for The First 48, a documentary series that shows real-life scenes in a homicide investigation. It was reportedly used as evidence in the lengthy investigation and two trials in connection to Aiyana’s death.

Weekley was subsequently charged with involuntary manslaughter, which was dismissed during the second trial in 2014. He was even allowed to return to the police force in 2015.

Geoffrey Fieger, the family’s lawyer, confirmed the settlement could help the family move on but it “won’t provide full justice. The only full justice would be to bring Aiyana back and I can’t do that.”

Meanwhile, Detroit Corporation Counsel Lawrence Garcia said in a statement, “Aiyana’s death was a tragic loss for her family and has been a heavy burden on our community. We believe today’s settlement is fair because it balances the needs of Aiyana’s family and our responsibility for the city’s finances. We hope this resolution will provide everyone involved with a measure of closure.”

3 Black Churches Have Burned in 10 Days in a Single Louisiana Parish 4/8/2019

ATLANTA — Three historically black churches have burned in less than two weeks in one south Louisiana parish, where officials said they had found “suspicious elements” in each case. The officials have not ruled out the possibility of arson, or the possibility that the fires are related.

“There is clearly something happening in this community,” State Fire Marshal H. Browning said in a statement on Thursday. “That is why it is imperative that the citizens of this community be part of our effort to figure out what it is.”

The three fires occurred on March 26, April 2 and April 4 in St. Landry Parish, north of Lafayette. A fourth fire, a small blaze that officials said was “intentionally set,” was reported on Sunday at a predominantly black church in Caddo Parish, about a three-hour drive north.

“But just as we haven’t connected the three in St. Landry, we haven’t connected the one in Caddo,” said Ashley Rodrigue, a spokeswoman for the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal, on Friday.

Local officials said that they were still investigating the fires, and did not say if they knew of any suspects, a motive, or whether racism was an element.

“There certainly is a commonality, and whether that leads to a person or persons or groups, we just don’t know,” Mr. Browning said at a news conference on Thursday.

The F.B.I. and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are involved in the investigation, said Jeff Nowakowski, a spokesman for the A.T.F.’s New Orleans field division.

The Rev. Gerald Toussaint, pastor at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Opelousas, La., was driving to work on Thursday morning at around 4:45 a.m. when his wife called him to say she had seen on social media that their church was ablaze.

Mr. Toussaint was aware of the two other fires that had been set at nearby houses of worship, St. Mary Baptist Church in Port Barre, and Greater Union Baptist Church in Opelousas. He rushed to the scene

The church, which was founded in the 19th century, had undergone extensive remodeling two years ago. Now it is nearly gone, he said, except for a brick wall and corridor in the front.

“I’m trying to find out who did it, why they did it, did it have anything to do with me,” said Mr. Toussaint, who drives trucks for a living. “I don’t know none of this.”

He also said he did not want to speculate, for fear of angering potential arsonists, or prompting copycat crimes.

St. Landry Parish is a rural area studded with crawfish ponds and bayous in the heart of Cajun and Creole country. It is 56 percent white and 41 percent black. Mr. Toussaint said that relations were generally good between black and white residents.

Since the 1950s, black churches across the South have been the targets of numerous racist attacks, from arson to bombing to armed assault. In 2015, a white supremacist shot and killed nine people at a Bible study at an African-American church in Charleston, S.C.

In 2006, a string of arsons at Alabama churches, some predominantly white, some predominantly black, proved to be the work of three college students that officials characterized as a “joke” that had spun out of control.

Last month, a black member of a predominantly black congregation, Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, Miss., pleaded guilty to burning his church. The church was spray-painted with the words “Vote Trump” in an effort to make the attack seem politically motivated, a Mississippi official said.

A Girl was in Prison for 6 years with out a trial and now she is missing 4/6/2019

Nationwide — Ciham Ali Ahmed, an Eritrean-American girl, was imprisoned by the government of Eritrea at the age of 15 although she was never convicted of any crime. Since then, Ciham, who is now 22-years old, has been held incommunicado for 6 years and even her family doesn’t know where she is exactly or how she is doing. Born in California to Eritrean parents, Ciham grew up in Eritrea where her father Ali Abdu formerly served as the minister of information under President Isaias Afwerki. In 2012, her father fled to Australia fearing for his life after a rift with the president.

Ciham’s father then reportedly negotiated with smugglers to get his daughter out of the country because he thought the government would take retribution on him through his daughter.

Eritrea has a policy of forced national military service for young people starting at the age of 18. The conscription should last for only 18 months but he feared the government would have his daughter face a life of permanent conscription instead.

However, Ciham was arrested on December 8, 2012 while attempting to cross the border to Sudan to escape.

Not only Ciham tried to leave the country in fear of never coming out of conscription. The UN refugee agency UNHCR said there were 459,430 Eritrean refugees around the world by the end of 2016.

Ciham, described by her family as caring and compassionate, never faced trial and wasn’t charged with any crime. Yet she remained in prison and her whereabouts are still a mystery even to her family.

Since then, her family tried to find out where she is but her uncle, Saleh Younis, told CNN they were only told that “her case is being personally handled by the President and nobody knows anything about it.” Her family also tried to seek help from the US government.

“Because she is US born… I really thought the government of the United States would scream bloody murder but no one is speaking for her. It’s very, very disappointing. She is a United States citizen but because she grew up in Eritrea and because her parents are Eritreans, then I guess she is not fully American,” Younis said.

Recently, several organizations are drawing attention to Ali Ahmed’s disappearance. A group called One Day Seyoum took her story to social media sites for a campaign using the hashtag #happybirthdayciham. The Amnesty International is also urging people to sign the petition to call on the Eritrean government to release her.

“Granting Ciham Ali Abdu unconditional release would signal that there is hope for a new era of reform to begin in Eritrea,” said Felix Horne, senior Africa researcher at Human Rights Watch. “The government has already deprived Ciham of her adolescence; she now deserves to spend her adulthood as a free woman.”

Dallas County DA Rejects Felony Charge Against Deep Ellum Assault Victim 4/6/2019

The victim of an assault caught on video was shocked when a warrant was issued for her arrest.

L’Daijohnique Lee was charged with felony criminal mischief after police said she broke the window on a truck belonging to the man who allegedly beat her.

The two were apparently fighting over a parking space.

The Dallas district attorney now says those charges will be dropped.

When Lee spoke to Dallas police about the assault captured on cellphone video, she never expected she would be charged.

“I’ve been having breakdowns,” said Lee, who was beaten by Austin Shuffield. The 33-year-old man had a gun during the encounter. “I just felt like I was just being honest. I was telling them everything that happened.”

The Dallas police chief saw another side to this story.

Dallas police said they filed a case against Lee for criminal mischief in part because she admitted to breaking the back window of her attacker’s truck.

Lee’s attorney, Lee Merritt warns the department’s decision could have a chilling effect on victims’ willingness to report crimes.

“If I’m a victim of domestic abuse, but I’m in possession of marijuana, is it safe for me to call the police?” Merritt said.

Former prosecutor Heath Harris said victims shouldn’t assume they are immune to prosecution.

“I don’t want to send the wrong message to victims that they think that they can retaliate and there’s not going to be any consequences for your retaliations,” Harris said.

Following a morning of protests at city hall, the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office announced it would not prosecute the case against Lee.

District Attorney John Creuzot said he had no prior knowledge that a warrant was being issued.

Harris had his interpretation of that story.

“He’s saying this should have never even gotten to my office. (With) a case of this magnitude, someone should have contacted my intake people to let me know, let us know, that you guys were thinking of filing this case and we would have told you, ‘don’t file that case,’” Harris said.

Lee faced a felony criminal mischief charge because the damage to the truck was estimated at more than $25,000.

That’s more serious than the original misdemeanor charge against 30-year-old Shuffield for punching her violently five times in the face and head.

Shuffield’s charge has since been upgraded to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon since he held a gun during the argument.

Lee’s lawyer is asking for federal hate crime charges to be filed against Shuffield.
