FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. — A Fayette County man has been arrested after allegedly murdering his mother and wife on Saturday.
FOX 5 reports that around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 7, deputies arrived at the home of 34-year-old Johnny Edwards IV after a call came in about a domestic dispute.
Edwards was standing outside his home when deputies arrived. Deputies entered the home and found the bodies of two women.
Officials were able to link the 911 call to Edwards, making him the main suspect.
On Monday, deputies identified the victims as the suspect’s mother, 57-year-old Kathy Edwards, and his wife, 31-year-old Venus Quanteh, according to FOX 5.
Residents in the Highgrove subdivision were in shock at the scene that unfolded Saturday afternoon.
“It just hurts my heart to even think about it,” Cheryl Bolmon, a Highgrove resident, told FOX 5. “I really feel bad for this whole family, it’s just a sad thing. I can’t imagine what they’re going through.”
Sheriff Barry H. Babb told FOX 5 that the investigation is centering around Edwards.
Investigators have not revealed any details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but family members said they’re confident that no foul play was involved.
“This was an accident. Fayaadh is an excellent and great kid just like his brother,” their uncle, Hasan Ford, told ABC News on Wednesday as the family prepared for the young man’s Thursday burial. “They were our greatest pride and our greatest joy. They were the ones with the most potential of our lineage.”
He declined to discuss how the teens gained access to the firearm, but he said the brothers had “never dealt with guns prior to this incident.”
Fayaadh has been charged with murder, possession of an instrument of crime, unsworn falsification to authorities, and obstructing justice, according to police.
John Davidson, assistant principal and head football coach for Mastery Charter School Lenfest Campus, where the brothers were both seniors, said the loss had shaken the school community. He described Suhail as “a scholar athlete” who was fielding college offers from several schools.
“He was a hard worker — on and off the field. He was one of the players that I would love to coach again,” Davidson told ABC News Wednesday following a school-sponsored ceremony in the teen’s honor. “We all admired his work ethic, his commitment to the game and his strive to always be better.”
“As a school, we’ve rallied together to support one another as well as his family in this tragic time,” he added.
Davidson said Suhail had attended the charter school since seventh grade and was a Philadelphia all-star and a three-time All-Public League player. He was also a member of the school’s track team.
The school hosted a balloon releasing ceremony for Suhail at Penn’s Landing, the waterfront park where the school is scheduled to hold its senior graduation later this year. The school is also planning to present the teen’s mother with a trophy and jersey in the near future, according to Davidson.
“He’s been in our school since the seventh grade and his mom has been a part of our fabric since he’s been here. We’re a very small school with a strong family atmosphere,” Davidson said. “We’re trying to heal, but it’s a continuing process and it’s going to go on for some time.”
Classmates remembered the slain teen with a memorial near the school’s entrance featuring his football jersey number, flowers, and numerous photos of him and his friends.
NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade police homicide investigators continue to try to solve an apparent drive-by shooting that left two sisters dead and 2 other people hospitalized in Northwest Miami-Dade.
Juan Perez, the Director of Miami-Dade Police, is calling this case a top priority and stopped by the CBS4 live truck at the crime scene late Monday afternoon to make a public appeal for the community to come forward.
Perez told CBS4’s Peter D’Oench, “I have two daughters of my own. This case is of ultimate importance and I can’t imagine the mother and father’s grief knowing that their daughters lost their lives for nothing being caught up in a crossfire. I can’t even imagine what they are going through and the grief they share. So that’s why I am out here appealing to the community and asking for help. I wanted to spark up some interest in this and I am so grateful that you are here doing this story. Because anytime we accept the horrific gun violence this can be the result and so I am asking that people come forward.”
Just hours before Perez spoke, a Stop the Violence truck drove by the crime scene repeatedly with a flashing message appealing for the public’s help in this case.
Police say Stephanie Telusme, 27, and her 23-year-old sister, Joanna, were shot and killed near Northwest 19 Avenue and 60 Street early Sunday morning.
Their family says they were visiting a friend before they went out for the night.
“They weren’t even the ones who were targeted. They were innocent bystanders, according to their cousin Terry Silien. “It’s just a sad unfortunate situation right now that my family has to go through and have to bury two young ladies,” he continued.
“They were just out to enjoy a Saturday night and this happened,” he said. “They were here to visit friends.”
Two other shooting victims, Robert Allen, 30 and Jennifer Charles, 24, were also shot and transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition, Miami-Dade police say.
Officers responded immediately after receiving a ShotSpotter signal around 1:30am Sunday. When police attempted to stop a vehicle leaving the area, the driver refused to stop, and soon after, abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Police set up a perimeter and three men were detained and questioned, however, two were released and the third was arrested for an unrelated possession of marijuana charge.
No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting. The motive is still unknown.
A rapper is headed to trial for the 2012 murder of his mother to get to her bank account. This young man is seen in videos tossing money in the crowd just after his mother was murdered. When I read this it was something vicious. Something I thought could never be possible. A young man hired someone to kill his mother to get to her money.
It is amazing how vicious these kids are nowadays!!! No more the days son or daughter tries to get your purse and get your car keys and take a joyride. No,longer the days where your kid will steal a few dollars to party on the town. Now these little beast just plainly killing their parents to get what they want.
The story is very disturbing and it takes place in Chicago. One of the most violent cities in America has taken it to a new high. Never would i have thought that any person with a sane mind would ever thing about doing this
Look at the video there was no sign of concern in the young man’s face walking with his friends, going to the bank account and on top of going to the bank account he filming the whole session.
Now this is her only son that comes threw her legs to be born in the world .You never knew that same son that she caressed loved one day end her life. There is a demonic force happening in the African American community. If this mindset continues in our nation it’s going come to a point where we as a race is going to have to purify our people of this madness mindset . It will get worse each generation to the point where we will be despised by all nations.
So read the story about a young man killed his mother to toss USD20,000 of hard earned money to strangerst like he earned it. Here is the link below to read the story:
first, the stabbing death of Jacquelyn Smith on a Baltimore street
corner in December sounded like an act of charity gone wrong.
way her husband, Keith Smith, told it to reporters, the couple and Mr.
Smith’s daughter, Valeria Smith, had been driving home after celebrating
Valeria’s birthday. Jacquelyn Smith, 54, asked him to stop the car so
she could give money to a woman holding what appeared to be a baby
outside in the rain, he said. Then, Mr. Smith said, a man ran up to the
car, tried to snatch Jacquelyn’s necklace through the open window and
“The last thing I
thought, that they were going to take my wife’s life,” Mr. Smith told
reporters shortly after his wife’s death, his arm around Valeria Smith,
Jacquelyn’s stepdaughter, who was sobbing, according to video published by The Baltimore Sun. “I got to live with that every day.”
on Sunday, law enforcement authorities announced a twist in the case:
The attack was staged, Michael Harrison, acting commissioner of the
Baltimore Police Department, said. Mr. Smith, 52, and his daughter, 28,
were arrested by the authorities in Texas on Sunday and charged with
first-degree murder in Ms. Smith’s death on Dec. 1. Sheriff Omar Lucia
of Cameron County, Tex., said that Mr. Smith and his daughter were
arraigned on Monday on murder and other charges, including aggravated
assault. Sheriff Lucia said they were being held in jail without bond.
now know that that was not true,” Mr. Harrison said, referring to Mr.
Smith’s account of how Ms. Smith had died. “It was not a panhandler,”
the commissioner said at a news conference attended by Mayor Catherine
E. Pugh and Marilyn J. Mosby, the state’s attorney for Baltimore.
Smith told the police that a female panhandler had asked for money to
help her feed her young child, according to a police report.
Highway Patrol officers arrested Mr. Smith and Valeria Smith “without
incident” from their rental car, a Toyota Camry, Lt. Johnny Hernandez, a
spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said in an
interview on Monday. They were coming out of the parking lot of a
convenience store at about 10 a.m. Sunday in Combes, Tex., about 35
miles from a border crossing with Mexico.
Hernandez said he did not know what they were doing in Texas or how
long they had been there. It was not immediately clear whether Mr. Smith
or Valeria Smith had legal representation.
The announcement of their arrests was a stunning turnaround in a case that had stoked concerns about the city, which has one of the nation’s highest murder rates, and sympathy nationwide. Oprah Winfrey, the talk show host, said she would think twice about giving money to panhandlers.
Smith was a civilian contractor with the Joint Program Executive Office
for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense in Maryland,
which manages the nation’s supply of defense equipment, a spokeswoman
for the agency said on Monday.
Mr. Harrison, named the city’s fifth police chief in four years
in early January and charged with trying to solve some of its most
persistent problems, declined to answer reporters’ questions on Sunday
about an alleged motive, saying the investigation was “ongoing.”
Smith moved out of Jacquelyn Smith’s house two weeks ago, said Marcel
Trisvan, Ms. Smith’s brother, and handed the keys to him, saying he was
moving to Florida, according to The Sun on Sunday. Mr. Trisvan did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Monday.
at the weekend news conference announcing the Smiths’ arrests said the
suspects had exploited the city’s image in allegedly trying to cover up
the killing. It was one of more than 300 in Baltimore in 2018, according to The Sun.
“People take advantage of Baltimore,” Mr. Harrison said. “We want to make sure the truth comes out and justice is done.”
Pugh, referring to Mr. Smith and his daughter, added: “These
individuals took advantage of a situation — a city that is already
dealing with its own problems.”
December, at a news conference, Mr. Smith said that he had called 911
to report the alleged attack, and that he had been instructed by a
dispatcher to apply pressure to stanch the blood flow of his wife’s
wounds as he drove her to the hospital.
said then that Ms. Smith “felt moved” when he saw the woman and baby in
the rain. He jumped out of the car, he said, and tried to run after the
woman and the man after the stabbing, but returned to the vehicle when
he heard his wife’s screams.
“I try to help people, but we are in our last days, and we need to understand there are some desperate people,” Mr. Smith said.
An Illinois mother and her two children are dead in
what police are investigating as a murder-suicide carried out by the
Will County coroner Patrick O’Neil
confirmed the identities of the victims, and said all four died “in what
appears to be a domestic incident,” according to a news release.
are 28-year-old Jacquelon Gaskin, her 6-year-old daughter Gianna Lee,
1-year-old son Giovanni Lee, and 34-year-old Brandyn Lee, who relatives
and neighbors of the deceased woman identified as her longtime boyfriend
and the father of the two kids, reports TV stations WLSthis link opens in a new tab and WBBMthis link opens in a new tab.
Gaskin’s mother, Rusha Brooks, said the couple who shared a two-story home with the children in Joliet were growing apart, and her daughter wanted out of the relationship.
“He was like a controlling type of guy, and I think she was trying to break away from that, and I think that was the trigger, because otherwise why would you?,” she told reporters, according to WBBM. “That was his last bit of control, was to take everybody away, not just himself.”

She said her daughter “was loved,
and she is loved, by a lot of people, and he just didn’t disrupt his
life, he disrupted a lot of lives.”
According to multiple reports,
police said they responded to a report of shots fired inside of the
couple’s home just after 10 p.m. Wednesday. Neighbors reported a woman’s
screams after she apparently discovered the bodies.
All four victims were on the second floor, police said.
Authorities have not officially
identified the shooter, but law enforcement sources told WBBM the
investigation likely will show Brandyn Lee shot himself after first
shooting his girlfriend and their two children.
Autopsies for the victims were scheduled for Friday.
Gaskin was studying to become a nurse, family members told WBBM.
“Jesus and God are going to handle
all of this,” said Terrance Brooks, Gaskin’s stepfather, reports WLS.
“My grandchildren and my daughter are going to heaven.”
Brooklyn, NY — Todd Myles, a basketball coach at a high school in New York City, has been charged and arrested for shooting Christopher Hooks, the father of one of his players, who apparently showed up to his house to confront him about his son’s short playing time.
The shooting incident happened on December 22 last year. The police were called to Myles’ house, where Myles claimed that a third man shot them and immediately fled the scene.
Hooks was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. He was intubated and couldn’t talk to the investigators about the incident for about a month. When he recovered, he told a completely different story.
Myles, a 42-year-old basketball coach at Paul Robeson High School, allegedly lied to the police about what happened. Hooks said it was Myles who shoot him, not any other random man.
Although Myles was actually also shot in his legs, it wasn’t clear yet if he deliberately shot himself in an attempt to cover up his doings or if the bullet ricocheted.
Myles was arrested and taken into custody on Friday for charges of attempted murder, assault and criminal use of a firearm.
The Department of Education called the allegations against Myles “incredibly shocking” and issued a statement saying, “We immediately reassigned Mr. Myles away from students and we’ll work to remove him from payroll as soon as legally possible. We are providing support to the school and are working with the NYPD throughout this investigation.”
This had to be the most devastating facebook live killing i’ve ever seen on your tube. Newnew a mother was shot in the head a year ago and it was caught on facebook live . After Newnew said sorry for her comments to Roberson present girl friend for her comments on facebook. Roberson stood over the woman and shot here in the head while screaming (you want to be famous i will make you famous) then Roberson predeceased to point his gun to the head of Newnew and shot her ones and injured her kid. Roberson continued out side where he shot a cop before giving up.
Now this story was crazy i did not know if she knew that she was going to die but last time i seen this story and seen the video i do not think she thought this crazy man was going to kill her. There was another person in the room and that person was Newnew’s son who was injured when the incident happened. I was in shock and i remember saying to myself what kind of world we are living in today where and man can pull a shot gun and kill a woman like that on a live feed like facebook.
You have to ask yourselves from a few years back we just herd about news like this a day or maybe today’s after the crime now we can see these crimes and murders in real time now!!!!!
Roberson was sentence to a 100 years in prison. reports say that Roberson was suppose to get the death penalty but the mother stepped in and pleaded for this man’s life and all he got was 100 to life after a execution style murder of her own daughter.
Personal if that was my daughter it would have been off with his head!!!! But the mother pleaded for this man’s life and he will have to sit in jail for the rest of his life because of this killing of an unarmed woman!!!! In court he is already sorry for his actions and pleaded with the family. I guess he had along time to think about what he did the last year.
Humanity has dropped to a all time low with this case!!!! what kind of man brings a shot gun that large or any gun for that matter to deal with a woman that wronged him, Where are we going where you can catch live feed of a murder just by browsing face book or youtube. It is said a kid lost his mother over senseless voilence over words!!!!!!
A Texas teen shot his girlfriend in the chest with a rifle. I do not know what is going on with our black teens but it seems the mother or father think its cool to have a rifle in the house. This the problem with the single parents homes in this country with black people and something has to be done about it sooner rather then later! To long have these single house hold with a races have been aloud to infest the black community. These children are entering a whole new level of stupid.
The kid was trying to impress his girl friend with his masculinity instead he shot her one time in the chest. A Death that did not have to happen but it did. Because of the careless black family that left a rifle out in the open and did not lock it up.
These are kids , The young man was 17 years old and the girl was ab out 15. Now this kids up on charges because he said to the girl the gun was not loaded but he did not know there was a bullet in the chamber. He also did not know about gun safety like putting the gun on safety or taken his finger off the trigger and these are the reason this child is did.
It was amazing how the young man was raising the gun at the 15 year old and how she was slapping the gun down while the young man finger was on the trigger. I can’t even imagen the shock that was in her eyes when she got shot by her boy friend.
Ladies this what happen when you when you pick mindless thugs that have only one thing the think that makes a man and most of these young cats be fake the just act tuff.
I really hope the ladies of the black race realize these kind of brothers is not the type you should be breading with. The are genetic mishaps and they will mess up your life like this girl life was snuffed out. young ladies and young gents choose wisely because these trends dating these violent idiots is going to get you killed
Pike Creek, DE — Ibn Polk, a 5-year old boy from Delaware, was very scared when he was left alone inside a school bus for about 7 hours. The school bus driver, who allegedly knew that the child was still on board, has been fired from her job for neglect.
Ibn reportedly fell asleep during the bus ride to Linden Hill Elementary in Pike Creek, Delaware. Officials believe that the driver didn’t do her usual sweep after dropping off the students to school. Security footage at the time of the incident also appeared to show that other students informed the driver that Polk was still inside but she ignored it.
“When she didn’t do that, that made it seem like she didn’t really care,” his father Abdul Polk told ABC News.
Polk’s parents weren’t immediately called when he was marked absent. They were only notified after the daily automatic call goes out to parents with absent children.
“I didn’t really know what was going on because I know I dropped my baby off at the bus stop and he was on the bus,” his mother Ivana Dennis said.
Polk was found 7 hours later when the driver went back for her afternoon rounds to get the student and she heard him cough.
Polk seemed to be traumatized after being left behind on his school bus on a freezing cold temperature. He didn’t eat for the whole time because there was a rule that students can’t eat on the bus. He was also found soaking wet as he urinated on himself.
Meanwhile, the driver, who had a 20-year experience, was fired from the Sutton Bus Company
